Pair with your machine

Start a Happy session on your computer

Run happy in your terminal. A QR code will appear.

Open the Happy app

Launch the app on your phone. On first launch, you’ll be guided through account setup.

Scan the QR code

Tap the scan icon on the home screen and point your camera at the QR code in your terminal.

Connected

Your phone is now paired. You’ll see your active session in the app.

Account

Happy uses cryptographic authentication — no passwords. Your identity is a key pair generated on your device. When you scan the QR code, your phone and computer exchange public keys to establish a secure connection.

Settings

Access settings by tapping the gear icon. Key options:
  • Appearance — Light, dark, or automatic theme
  • Voice — Voice provider and language settings
  • Notifications — Push notification preferences
  • AI Backend Profiles — Configure custom API endpoints for Claude, Codex, or Gemini
  • GitHub — Connect your GitHub account for social features
